North Sea Link Ramp Rate Change Update
From delivery day 02/09/2026, the North Sea Link interconnector normal ramp rate will increase from 22.5 MW/min to 25 MW/min. This allows power flows on the interconnector to change by up to 500 MW per hour, compared with the current 450 MW per hour. The updated ramp rate will be reflected in the GB-NO2 Day-Ahead market coupling auction.
North Sea Link Financial Transmission Rights - Officially open Monday 6th July 2026
We are pleased to announce that registration for the new North Sea Link (NSL) Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) product is now officially open on JAO from Monday 6th July 2026.
Customers wishing to participate in NSL FTR auctions must ensure they are appropriately registered with JAO before the relevant auction deadlines. We anticipate go-live by the end of Q3 2026 and are pleased to be progressing towards auctions from September onwards, Access rules and Charging methodology received regulatory approval. These entered into force on 13th August 2026.
Existing JAO Customers
If your company is already registered with JAO, you do not need to complete a full new registration. Please use this link to access the required form 'Amendment No.28 to the Participation Agreement' then this must be submitted via the JAO Support Hub by signing in and raising a ticket.
New Customers
If your company is not currently registered with JAO, you will need to complete the JAO Market Participant registration process before you can participate in NSL FTR auctions. JAO recommends submitting registration documentation at least nine working days before the auction in which you intend to participate.
