North Sea Link

Statnett and National Grid operate North Sea Link (NSL), a 720km subsea interconnector linking the electricity systems of Great Britain and Norway.

The 1400MW interconnector stretches from Blyth in Great Britain, across the North Sea, to Kvilldalin Norway.

NSL connects the electricity systems of the two countries via high voltage direct current (HVDC) electrical cables.

The major part of the link is made of subsea cables and on both sides a short distance of underground cables has been constructed from the landfall to the converter station.
